Muy Pwa
Beanlandia’s Café
In my global travels, I have observed beans being eaten and enjoyed in many ways across cultural and diasporic lines. It is important to highlight these experiences and the versatility of beans as the shining star of our menu. During the menu development process, I took a deep dive into the more than 400 species of beans and made it a point to showcase beans in a different light. Each dish features at least one type of bean while some dishes have three or even four types of bean. My goal with Muy Pwa is to present beans in a non-traditional sense and broaden our understanding of how many ways beans can be used. From bean deserts, to bean cocktails, beans are the star of the show here at Beanlandia.
The name Muy Pwa is not only a celebration of the bean but a nod to our founder’s son, who really wanted the cafe to be named “Super Happy Yum Yum”. Muy is actually YUM reversed while PWA is the Haitian Creole word for Bean. I’m super happy to share my bean yums with y’all, and I hope to see you soon in the cafe.
