Beanlandia
Krewe of Red Beans Headquarter
is not just a bean museum. It is a member-supported cultural center, an educational space, and a place where we come together and create joy.
BEANLANDIA is the Center of a VIBRANT COMMUNITY
Imagine what a vibrant community looks like, what are the elements / features?
We have seven major pillars to guide us.
1. There is Culture
A community with culture is a vibrant place and engaging in culture brings joy. Beanlandia is home to the Krewe of Red Beans and hosts other cultural groups creating moments where members can connect with and appreciate culture. Music, workshops, lectures and other programming!
2. There is Learning
We value learning new perspectives and building new skills and ideas. Beanlandia is committed to creating learning opportunities for both children and adults. Beanlandia creates and hosts workshops where community can teach and learn.
3. People are Connected
People need to feel part of a group. Our programming brings people together to socialize and make friends. We strive to increase “social cohesion” by creating a diverse set of peers who call the space home. Our activities are welcoming and all-ages.
4. A Safety Net Exists
New Orleans will continue to have hurricanes, heat waves, and other challenges. Beanlandia is a resilience hub where the community can work together as we face climate-specific issues.
5. Childrens' Programming
We want to provide kids with activities to foster hope and positivity. Beanlandia is a space where kids and come together in a safe and creative space where they can make friends and build bridges.
6. Sustainability
Beanlandia will develop and promote climate solutions and programs to promote sustainability. We encourage members to get into and appreciate nature. We are developing our Beanlandia garden as a model of sustainability.
7. Team Approach
Beanlandia is a not-profit ecosystem that seeks to support and uplift. It hosts and collaborates with other non-profits, community and cultural groups. You can learn more about our partner organizations and affiliates here.
