A partnership between the Krewe of Red Beans and the Bywater Neighborhood Association. The Bywater has one of the lowest tree canopy rates in New Orleans — and no one will fix this but us.
The Bywater has one of the lowest tree canopy rates in the city. This makes heat waves significantly worse for our neighborhood — the urban heat effect is stronger without shade. Trees also help reduce flooding.
If we each give a few dollars a month, we can transform our neighborhood. Every tree planted is shade for a neighbor, cleaner air, and a little more resilience against the next heat wave or hurricane.
